What to Expect
In Chinese culture, the idiom Nian Nian You Yu (年年有余), meaning “Wishing an Abundance Year After Year,” is a cherished expression of prosperity and well-being. The word yu (余), which means "surplus," shares a phonetic similarity with yu (鱼), otherwise known as "fish," giving the phrase a poetic duality often interpreted as “Wishing for Fish Year After Year.”
For many Chinese households, the fish holds a significant meaning especially during the Chinese New Year reunion dinner. It is usually a feast of abundance, with tables laden with hearty, savoury dishes. At the centre of it all is a whole fish, a staple symbolising blessings, prosperity, and fortune in hopes for surplus in the year ahead. The bigger the fish, the better.
This year, Kwai Chai Hong, in collaboration with our sponsor Bangsar Heights Pavilion (BHP), proudly presents Bountiful Blessings (年年有余), an enchanting art installation inspired by the timeless Nian Nian You Yu idiom.
Instead of the usual wishes to receive in abundance, together with BHP, we would like to share the universal joy of giving in abundance - in line with BHP and Kwai Chai Hong's beliefs in sharing prosperity with the community.
Join us for an intimate 1-hour journey to experience this remarkable installation. There are 4 x 1-hour slots to choose from, with each session limited to 25 media and content creators for an exclusive tour and photo/video opportunities.
This event listing is for the 8:00 PM slot - strictly by invitation and first-come-first-served basis.
